Ian Loves Babo

Ian is crazy about his Babo. He's got a lot of plushies that he loves (esp. the green frog that cousin Jenn gave him on his diaper cake), but Babo is number one. Ian takes Babo everywhere with him: in the car, to the State Fair, the park, in his crib...

Maybe it's his little arms that fit perfectly into Ian's little hand. Or maybe it's the two bitty ears on top of Babo's head that Ian loves to chew on. Whatever the reason, Babo is Ian's BFF.

Here's Babo's story:

Babo will protect you. Having a bad day? Someone giving you a hard time? Babo's got your back. What Babo lacks in mind power, he makes up for in love. He's everybody's best friend. He will stick with you to the end and when something scary happens, he will send you a nice greeting card from wherever it is he runs away to. A very curious, mischievous creature, Babo may need some guidance and parenting, so make sure to bring him with you to as many places as possible. Leaving him at home is fine, but please put all cookies and money on the highest shelf.

Parenting, Interrupted

So I'm totally guilt trippin' over the lack of time I have with Ian during the work week. I love my job and "having a career," but am seriously not enjoying being away from him. It feels unnatural, as if my parenting experience were being arrested, or at the very least - interrupted.

With this guilt I thee spend. On a very short lunch break, I hit the aisles of Toys R Us and bought my little guy some toys, including this classic:

He's in the early stages of teething, so I also picked up a few things for him to salivate all over and gnaw on to his heart's content.

To add to this parenting misery, Jason and I have agreed to put him to sleep a little earlier. Instead of cereal at 8ish (then a warm bath and final nursing), we are going to start the routine closer to 7:30. He is showing signs of sleep deprivation and does not nap well during the day. This means less time with him after work.

*insert very sad face here*

Chicken Boy

Here is the stuffed knitted chicken my mom just finished for Ian. I bought her a how-to book about knitted toys and this was her first project. Cute cute!

Miracle Octopus

Auntie Jen gave Ian a Baby Einstein octopus toy that plays music and tells colors in English, Spanish and French. Squeeze his head and he plays fun, carnival-style tunes; squeeze his tentacles and he tells the colors.

This octopus has become Ian's miracle distraction on the changing table. Before he can begin to fuss, I squeeze the head and Ian just stares and stares, allowing me to wipe, clean, airdry and diaper my little one with ease!
